There is a most luxurious sense of space, tranquility and timelessness about Le Puget. The Domaine is surrounded by farmland and gardens, dozing quietly in the Languedoc sun with the snow capped Pyrenees in the background. It has probably been farmed since the Chateau next door was founded in the 11th century.
You arrive through shady gardens and orchards with mature walnut and cypress trees and shrubs, and park in an old stone barn. The main buildings nestle around a pretty sheltered courtyard, all built in the local golden stone. The 11 x 5 m solar heated swimming pool has its own sunny garden, overlooked only by fields of sunflowers and wheat.
You can walk for hours through the fields, oak woods, and rolling hills that surround us, or picnic by our pretty lake. The views of the nearby Pyrenees are glorious. We are on the same latitude as Siena so the whole area has touches of Tuscany in the pencil pines, hill top villages, and golden summer landscapes.
We share Le Puget with abundant wildlife and wonderful plants. There are buzzards and eagles, woodpeckers, owls, hoopoe and golden orioles; red squirrels, hare, deer, and wild boar that come down to our lake to drink on hot summer nights. There are several rare orchids and wild flowers. We leave some land free as a natural haven for creatures of all sorts.
